While I was out for a brief walk this afternoon I came across this man sitting on a rock. He asked me if I had gotten some photos, and I responded, "Yes a few." He then asked me if I had gotten any photos of the chipmunk. I told him yes, just this past week. He was telling me that he comes by here and feeds him peanuts, and he comes and takes them out of his hand. He went to his car to get his container, came back, and gave his little call. Sure enough, Theodore came out, sat on the rock, and when he saw the peanuts he went right over to him. He even allows the man to scratch his belly as you can see in the bottom left photo. It was just too good to pass up.
That is amazing. I find chipmunks to be particularly elusive. Not like their sluggish cousins the squirrels. I barely get my camera raised and the speedy chipmunk has dashed into the drainpipe. I would love to meet Theodore.
Your lovely collage of Theodore makes me miss the one that came around and got so tame that it picked the peanuts out of Hans's shirt pocket. this is a few years ago and since then we haven't seen one around. I used to sit outside on the deck and he came up to sit on my lap and I could hold him in my hand. miss those days Thanks, Rick for memories.
