This immaculate estate is now privately owned, but its significance to our local history will always be present. Prior to its sale, the property was beginning to look a bit run down. It used to be called Tulpehocken Manor, and it was actually built in the mid to late 1700's. George Washington actually spent a fair amount of time here during the time the old Union Canal was being built. When the property went up for auction several years ago, it initially did not sell, but then a few years later, it was sold at auction for quite a bit less than the asking price of around $1.5 million. The current owners have spent a lot of money restoring it, so it still stands as a beautiful landmark to our area's history. @sangwann For its value I think it should have gone for quite a bit more. I think all in all if I remember it finally sold for about $800,000, but not totally sure. It was a bad time for getting rid of realestate
