The compass and the square, two of the symbols used by Freemasonry, a fraternal organization that traces its origins to the local fraternities of the stonemasons. According to encyclopedia Britannica, Freemasonry is the teachings and practice of the secret fraternal order of Free and Accepted Masons, the largest worldwide "Secret Society." So much about Freemasonry is unknown to many, so it is often seen as evil, and it has been attacked by many organized religions, and labeled as such.
