WOW! Apparently both sides have some fault in this situation. As frustrating as it is recreating a full-blown wedding, as it was just for the sake of pictures, is unreasonable and probably impossible. How far should either side take this?
In the day of film, you used to hear of weddings photos that were lost in processing and while that was highly disappointing, people moved on with their lives. This story just goes to prove we live in a society so highly litigious that people will sue for anything.
Yeah i saw this thing pop up a few weeks ago. The most ridiculous part: he's not even married to that woman anymore! He hasn't spoken to her in years and she returned to her home country in Europe.
I've shot a few weddings and I have a very simple clause in the contracts that are signed that states I can not be held responsible for equipment damage, mother nature ruining the wedding, and I specifically state that while every attempt will be made to get all the photos possible from the wedding there is no set list of "required" photos and I do not take suggestions or requests from anyone at the wedding. Granted...I never missed the slicing of the cake or the bouquet toss, but still...this is ridiculous.
Some chancer abusing the courts to make money, if he really was that upset then the time to do something was in 2003 NOT eight years later after the divorce.
Insane. So did she take all the photos in the divorce, leaving him with nothing? Would he want new shots of everything, as eight years is a big difference in appearance? Is this a way to get her back with him? Does the photographer/videographer have the content still?
Give it up. Move on. You can't go back in time, and anything you try isn't going to bring it back.
