The site dedicated to blue hour and night photography

Have you ever wanted to create beautiful night photos but it was completely dark when you found the right spot and subject? Well the bluehoursite.com web site will help you by calculating the best time frame for taking stunning blue hour pictures. If you don't know what is "blue hour" then you're in the right place. It refers to the time after the sun goes below the horizon and the sky goes into deep blue for a while. This is the best timing to take photos. You can learn more about this in the articles section by reading the tutorials."

I'm such a noob, I had no idea that there was a name for that sky. I've noticed it a million times and just assumed that there was no way that I could capture that color in a photo. Thank you for posting this!

Thank you for the link I found it helpful. I am more familiar with the term "twilight" (not related to the movies) which is synonymous with blue hour. I like the tool for planning the ideal range depending on date/state/city. I will use that in the future.

I have two close to the blue hour, one is a bit later and so darker but still blue.

@maggieh Go to the photo you want to post, on the right side of the page there is a box labelled Share. Select the contents of that box and copy/paste into the comment box in the discussion thread you want to post the image in.

im not sure if this is right, but im sharing this image in 3 threads now (long exposure and bridges are the first 2) but I think its a great example of blue hour. This is facing basically north at approx 5pm, just the time of sunset.
