Fishlove - Photos with a (naked) purpose !

October 27th, 2012
I was lucky enough to go to the private viewing of a new photographic exhibition in London this week. Fishlove is a photo project that hopefully will highlight the trouble the world is in with overfishing. If we as humans continue to overfish they way we are doing now then we could lose these incredible creatures forever.

Please check the photos out, as they are all taken by one of my photographic heroes - Rankin, a great British photographer and are pretty unusual - all photos are of naked famous folk posing with fish ! A lot of them cuddling them in fact !

If you are in London, I would really recommend you seeing the collection, as not all of them are shown on the website. The gallery is :

Pertwee Anderson & Gold,
25 Bateman Street, W1D 3AQ,

Be quick, only until the 31st October 2012.

@cromwell Lol, so you’re other person on the planet besides me that hates seafood.

Thanks for sharing. I’m the kind of environmentalist tree hugger that worries about things like this. I have to wonder if the fish were alive in the photo shoot. Being a resident of the US, I obviously won’t be able to attend the exhibition, but the photos on the website were really interesting!

Will have a look at the site in a minute. I love seafood but it pains me the way so much bycatch is just dumped. I think it is criminal when 75% of that is perfectly good eating fish, just not on the day's quota. This is why overfishing occurs. It is so wasteful. We are also beginning to have a problem in this part of the world with overfishing and there is much controversy whether the Antarctic Toothfish is sustainable or not with big boats going right down into the Ross sea. There will be a major accident there someday with very little chance of rescue for the crew and major pollution problems
