I'm hoping I can get some help from you knowledgeable 365ers. I've got a website through Wix BUT before I purchase a premium membership I want to make sure that the site fits my needs. I would like to sell my photos potentially. To do this using a wix site apparently you have to add a wix app. There are two available for use but I'm not sure which one to use:
Sorry, I've never heard of this site. I and several other 365'ers use Pixels.com or Fine Art America (same company). There are no apps to load and you can sell with their basic free membership or upgrade if you want to add more than 25 photos.
@photohoot I have sold some, I know that Aaron @grizzlysghost has also sold some. He is a lot more active with it than I am. I have just loaded a few and pretty much let it sit, but I do get people looking and have actually sold some prints off of it. I have also had people see my work on there and then request that I do photo shoots for them.
I sell fairly well through Fine Art America, averaging a sale every 4 days so far this year.
However, the solutions Jennifer mentioned seem to be aimed at selling digital files, rather than finished prints, which suggests a stock photography angle. Most people who buy stock images will not buy them from your website unless you are very well known, so if you want to go this route, you might want to consider selling through microstock agencies, such as Shutterstock (and many others)
@abirkill you are correct Alexis. Its more of a stock photography thing that I'm going for. Looks like Fine Art America is the way to go. Thanks a bunch for the information.
@photohoot Certainly I haven't paid to get on Fine Art so I'm not sure if that makes a difference in anything but I've still sold from there, I actually need to update it as I haven't put anything new on there for a while: http://fineartamerica.com/profiles/sarah-odell.html
@sjodell@abirkill@debrac@jdowd I just wanted to thank you all for this thread. It made me sign up and upload my first photography for sale. Not that I think it will sell... but its just thrilling to do something with my work. Thank you all for inspiring me. I needed the swift kick.
I thing Fine Arts is $30 year?
Good place to start........Smug Mug can be expensive
