My coworkers are gossipers.

So this has nothing to do with copyright, just with a personal issue of mine: I wish we had the option of only showing the photos to the 365 community. I've shot several photos that are a little on the nudey side. I love them. I'm comfortable in my own skin and I think that's a beautiful thing. I also think the female body, if shot in a certain way, can be tastefully displayed as art. However, I'm not so sure some of my gossiping coworkers feel the same way. Someone at the office got a hold of my 365 project link and -BAM!- the gossip started. Any advice? Thoughts?

Just wait 'til they see the thread :o

But actually, I feel the same. Not so much about the photos I post but about the captions I add; sometimes I like to keep my thoughts and ramblings (about my life) between myself and um... strangers :P

But then, even if there was a privacy feature for members only, anyone can sign up so it does nothing. I guess the best thing to do would be to ignore them (I find that people outside of this community don't really understand our vision) and go about your business - just as I should keep my captions basic.

Hmmmm .... this is a public site, as are most things on the internet. Maybe you should think about the long term effects of what you post. Google your name and see what comes up.

@dmortega I agree, I googled my username and was quite surprised with the results (from this site and from other places)!

As a general rule - If you post a shot you need to be comfortable with people talking about it, both people you know and those you don't.

They are just jealous, you have some beautiful art here which you should be proud of.

There are other ways to deal with these gossipers, if you know the right sort of people.

In seriousness though, I can see this could be an uncomfortable situation. Perhaps you just need to rise above it, and if they wish to be amused by it, just be amused by their small-mindedness. If they see you''re above it, you may have won.

I use the same standard that any smart public figure uses (not that I am a public figure, I just like the standard) If this photo, quote, idea of mine showed up on the front page of the Times and my wife/parents/kids saw them... I would A) Die B) Be proud C) wonder just how slow a news day it must have been...

It is a good measure for all things in life...

As to your nudes... save them for a gallery showing... if you don't want SOME PEOPLE to see them... it is best that no one sees them...

I have never been one that is overly concerned with what other people think or say about me personally, I am a big boy, and your opinions only counts if we have a relationship, most opinions are never based on fact anyway, so for people to judge you simply based on the photos you are posting, well shame on them. However, with that said, it is a free country. I looked at your photos and did not see anything that would be worth gossiping over. Experience has taught me that if people are 'gossiping' they are usually jealous of the person that they are 'gossiping' about. If it really is an issue for you then, you should save those photos for a gallery showing and don't post them on such a public site. I like @icywarm response as to how he reacts, if its ok with you and your family, then post it, some people are more conservative others, oh well.

I work in an office that is full of gossip. it comes from idle lives and jelousy. I have looked at your site and your photographes are wonderful, i wish i had a smidge of your talent. hold your head up girl and be proud of yourself.
December 20th, 2010
I agree with Dorrena--it's a public site. Your photos are out there so there you go.... Weather the storm, I guess.

Sod them... you should be proud of the pics you took... Many years from now you'll look back and think "Hmm... I didn't look too bad back in the day". They are just jealous and filled with envy. Maybe offer them signed prints or set the image as your screen saver! I always find people gossip when something is secret - open it up and embrace it then what is there to gossip about?? Be proud of what you have taken, put the ball in their court..

I'm with @andycoleborn

I don't really get what their issue could be apart from jealousy (educated guess - they're women?)...

Unless of course they didn't realize that underneath your clothes you have lady bits? :o

@indiannie_jones @dmortega @vikdaddy @rossco088 @icywarm @wjw1741 @cookie123 @clarissajohal @andycoleborn

...I deleted them :(. But they're saved in my computer forever. And I printed some.
I just got a promotion to anchor a short segment every morning at my local FOX channel, so I'm better off not having those pictures lying around in the Internet. Thanks for all your advice!

@itszaiii bugger! And I didn't even get the chance to save a copy lol... Good news on teh job... congrats :-)
December 23rd, 2010
@andycoleborn LOL. Well I had a long, serious discussion with myself before deleting them.
I said, "Self, as much as you love these pictures and are proud them, you must take them down for your career's sake. But, because you do enjoy taking pictures of the female figure, I encourage you, Zai, to have friends model for you or take selfies that exclude your face so no one knows it's you."

Oh gosh, yes. I didn't realize you had a public career. I'm a writer and have to be very careful about what goes out there for the same reason. But, thanks for this thread, actually. I Googled myself and was shocked at what came up (not that what came up was shocking stuff, but my name was all over the place!) Good luck with the office drama--it will pass.
December 23rd, 2010
1. Congrats on the promotion! :D
2. Boo @ the people that make you feel as though you need to delete them

I do understand why you did it though... and maybe this isn't the place for it (only because they know you're here) but if you still want to share them with the world, you can always post elsewhere, with anonymity (helps if you keep your face out of them for good measure)

Oh and in related news, I Googled the word Unnie today. It's Korean.
December 23rd, 2010
@indiannie_jones LOL, why do you use Unnie for your sig?
December 23rd, 2010
A good friend of mine calls me that :3

I was moaning to her once that nobody here can say Annie properly (Greeks) - instead it comes out as uh-nee
December 23rd, 2010
@indiannie_jones Ahh. And it means "sister" in Korean, no?
December 24th, 2010
Mhmm :)
