I would really, really appreciate your help.

Hi, I'm at a time in my life right now where a lot of things are ending and I need to say goodbye and thank you to a lot of people. Firstly, I'm leaving my counsellor who has helped me through a hell of a lot, I've been seeing her for 3 years. I'm also leaving school, some teachers have gone so far out of their way to help me that at times it can be overwhelming. Others have taught me for many years.

Anyway, basically, I want to say thank you to them. I want to do it in the form of a framed photo and I want it to be as perfect as possible. I've taken a couple that you can see below, but I'm not happy with any of them. Really not happy with them.

Can anyone please give me some tips on how to improve these shots or edit these shots. Or does anyone have any ideas of other shoots I can do?

Thank you so much to anyone who's able to help, I really appreciate it, I just want this to be perfect. Thank you! :)

...or something like this but with 'Thank you' instead of 'hope'...?

I like the top one best...

Have you considered doing a montage?

Its a lovely thought... I used to be a teacher and I would have been thrilled to receive anything personalised like this.
:)

I don't have any advice and can't really help you at all, I just want to say that picture four (the first one with the drop) is absolutely perfect and gorgeous and every other superlative I can come up with. I would be happy as a clam to receive it and probably moved to tears!!

@calx What do you mean by a montage?
@vendetta Thank you :)

I would suggest a a nice cheery (bright) photo themed to each person as how they have helped you, with "thank you" worked into the photo, or hand written on the photo (if possible).

Bright as in your fifth picture. looks like a big smile

@naomi by a montage I mean incorporate more than one photo, like a collage?

I think @byrdlip has a good point about hand writing.

Have you considered making thankyou cards using your photos with a hand written thank you note inside?

I think the 1st one is perfect! If I received something like that knowing that someone had gone to the effort of taking the picture themselves I would be so moved

I like 1,3,and 4................I am sure anyone receiving any of these knowing that they are made specifically for them would be very touched. Good Luck!
Great job!

Number 1 is just perfect! I wouldn't change anything about it and if I received it I would be very happy.

I would go with either 1 or 4. I'm leaving my therapist too, and feel the same way, and don't really know how to express my gratitude but this is a great idea. And I've just been through your project. I've been in your place. Trust me, it is not always the same, and you will get through this. Chin up lovely! :)

I love the first water drop one, it's so cute and tiny. I would definitely be moved if someone gave that me.
I really like the first one, too, with the hanging letters, although the background seems a little bright against the letters to me.

What a lovely idea. I like number one as I think it is fun, the only thing I would do differently is maybe space the words slightly further apart and have less shadows on the words so maybe take it at a different time of the day.........the drops are cool too.........how did you do that?

i like 1, i agree with julie i think it is a perfect shot. love the subtle lighting over the tiles and the greens of the tree compliment the tiles well

Hun this is a stunning idea. I LOVE the first one but maybe you could do a montage. Also, maybe you could get the tiles slightly sharper and maybe the exposure too? I'm not sure, it might just be because it's little. xxxxxx

I really like the first one but would try to do it without as much shadow....
That said - I might try to add the "Hope" in somehow as that is part of their gift to you and you to them.
Good luck and let us see what you use.

I'm sorry, I have no improvements for you..
All I can say is the first one is perfect! :D

I think the 1st, 4th, and 5th photos look great. I also like the idea of the star with thank you.

@calx @naomi Wife suggests a simple border on the #5 picture, make them into fold over card. Sometimes, less is more.
May 6th, 2012
I like the first and last one besz! What a great idea!
May 6th, 2012
I like #1 the best followed closely by #5
May 6th, 2012
The first one is VERY cool!
May 6th, 2012
Thank you everyone for your help! I think I might put the thank you ones on a card and then frame one of my better ones instead.. :)
May 6th, 2012
I think the Hope one would be lovely framed and then #1 for thank you cards.

Those two shots just seem very You and your style that I've seen over the past year. =)
May 6th, 2012
I like the first one! :)
May 6th, 2012
I really like the 1st one :)
May 6th, 2012
I love the first one, the focus and lighting, and i like how the green of leaves brings out the green on the tiles - I really like the last one too, the focus is great
May 6th, 2012
I like the first one too, think it is really cool and very different and showed you took a lot of time setting it all up etc and that you put alot of thought into it so it will show you mean it and it is special to you to get this just perfect.
May 7th, 2012
First one. Hands down.
May 7th, 2012
They are all very nice but I really like No. 1 the best, too. I think it would be perfect.
May 7th, 2012
I like 1, 4, and the last one. They'll know how much effort that you put into it, and it's really thoughtful of you.

I think they are all very cool and definitely creative. If you are seeking ways to improve the shots, you might consider visual aids to lead the viewer's eye into the "Thank You" letters (in addition to Depth of Field which you've already got splendidly). e.g. Decrease shadow on the tiles; increase contrast on the tiles; vignette the corners or do a blur/edges clear/center thing to do a vignette-type thing.
