I posted this picture today and got two critiques on it and am now curious what other people think. One suggestion was to crop the right side to make it only the three teasels but someone else said they liked it the unbalanced way it is with the wilder look. What do you think?
Here is the shot:
I think the problem is the wall of focus that you have in this picture. What is it you are trying to draw someone's attention toward? The three teasels? you used f6.7, try with a smaller f/stop, maybe f4 to get less DOF. Might have helped.
Post process the two teasels on the right by blurring them. Or, when you took it, you could have moved to the left to get rid of the right teasels.
Another option would be to do an oval around blur three in the center, either blur out to the edges, or perhaps gradient black to the edges, to draw the eye toward you subject.
I do like the face in the lower left of the center teasel. :-)
Thank you all for your suggestions. They have been very helpful. I will try to be more aware of the composition and that odd numbers work better. @byrdlip I liked your ideas, too. I had the camera in P mode and let the camera choose the f stop. Also playing with editing a little more may have also helped. Thank you.
JA had a very good suggestion, along with all the others that suggested you crop it on the right and leave it at three. Try both and see which way you like it the best, as it can be a very interesting picture.
Thank you for the suggestions everyone. You have been very helpful. I did play with the original one and cropped out the ones on the right and it did look good that way..
My original thought was to try to get a bunch of teasels in the shot to show more of what they all looked like out in the woods.
