Question??

curious question....does still life photography necessary means it needs to be done indoors?

@livvy I don't think so......

@livvy Not in my eyes

still life is still live no matter where.

I don't think so . .but lighting is a huge part of it - maybe that's why it's normally done indoors?

was kinda using the sun as lighting and trying to get a shadow too...so when I googled images of still shots all of them were indoors and none had a shadow...

Still life refers to the subject matter, not the light

Still life means it's inanimate - indoors or outside, it doesn't matter!

@livvy
As others have said, still life simply just means that the object (or objects) that are being photographed are not living things. I apologize, I should have explained better in my challenge. This particular challenge is good in terms of learning the skills of lighting and composition, so I think it's a good challenge still,but if you find it too difficult please let me know and I'll issue a different challenge. :)

If i stand still and you photograph me is that "still life"? :-)

I think it is all down to interpretation and your interpretation is all that matters. @livvy
