newbie here

July 9th, 2014
hello :) i'm bianca, i'm a newbie at the 365project community, but i'm also so excited to get started. i don't usually post things in social networks, because i hate the exposure, but i guess i'll do that here... something tells me here is safety!
well.. i was wondering if you guys can help me out, telling me what you think about my pictures, if i could take pictures of something else than landscape (okay, i have some 360 days to take pics of other things lol), telling me anything!
i would like so much to have new friends/mentors/anything, because i do love taking pictures and i admire everyone's work here to make this site fantastic.
okay, thanks for reading this!
xx

Boo

Welcome. One observation (after looking at the 5 images you have posted): Watch the horizon line. Level horizons is a standard that can make or break an image. All of us have this issue come up occassionaly as I was recently called out on the horizon in an image. This is also encouragement to not use dutch tilt. Dutch tilt was only a fad for a short time in the 1960's and has always invited unwanted comments. As Bryan Peterson says, "You keep shooting!"

@huvesaker it's more than a social network, I hope it can became a home where I can just lay down, relax, and, of course, learn! thanks a lot, I will! :)

@chapjohn thanks for the serious observations! I'm glad that I finally know now how 'dutch tilt' is called. I'll avoid that, because I already used too much. I'll try new experiments with the horizon line. thanks again!

I was stuck of thinking of pictures to take and I don't live in a city environment so to go anywhere interesting, I basically have to drive there so I decided to just go outside and by doing that I found a love in taking pictures of birds of all things! I never thought I would be a bird lady, but I was actually amazed at the different birds that I had in my backyard that I never even knew about - of course I had to go out and get a bird feeder and that has been the best thing ever for me - it attracts more than birds, however, but hey - more photo ops with chipmunks and squirrels :) You may find a love in something in particular in your ventures or you may just like taking random pictures of anything which is what I started out doing. When I'm on road trips, I take lots of pictures of barns from the passenger seat of the car and they come out fabulous (check out my HDR photo album).

Welcome Bianca S'!! This is also my first 365 project. I started on January 1st this year and started to take pictures of anything and everything that took my fancy, even if it wasn't much good. Once you start you'll not stop and you'll always find something to photograph, no matter how good or bad you think it is!! It's always worth putting something on the site!! Best wishes with your project!!

The biggest piece of "advice" I could give you is to experiment, play, and above all have fun and learn. Don't be afraid to post a photo that you think isn't any good, we've all been there and I still am!!! And welcome aboard!

@yougonnashine I am with Graeme, don't be afraid to try new techniques and try things outside your comfort zone. You will find great encourage and advice here so don't be afraid to post something different. Also start to edit, there are great free editing tools like Picasa, pic monkey to give your shots that extra bit of pop.
Welcome and just remember to enjoy yourself and have fun :)

Welcome, Bianca! You'll find this to be a very friendly and helpful community. For starters, browse around and start following people who's photos you enjoy. For ideas on what to photograph, take a look at the many challenges that come up. There are weekly themes you can follow as well. One thing I always suggest to folks just starting their 365 project is to look at your hometown as if you were a tourist. Show us what's interesting about your community! What seems commonplace to you living there would likely be very impressive to those of us that have never been. Most important, though, is to enjoy your 365 journey!

Welcome - this is the most supportive photography site on the web. The advice from the folks above me is really good - get involved as much or as little as you like. Follow people whose work you find interesting. Comment as you see appropriate. I've found it rewarding to get involved with the challenges (Click on Discuss->Themes & Competitions) because it pushes me to shoot differently. Good luck and welcome to the community.

Welcome to 365! Way better than social media! LOL! There are all kinds of themes and challenges on here. They are tons of fun and great inspiration. And after a while, you will start really like a style or theme that you see others take and will make your own bucket list of shots, like shots of the moon, sun flares, light trails, intention camera movement (ICM),..... You are going to have fun on this site!

Lots of good advice above. I would also suggest browsing through the themes and challenges. They'll give you ideas of things to shoot and you'll look at them in a new way. Go ahead and tag your photos for the challenges and see what happens. The worst thing that could happen is that you'll get to see the great postings of others on the same theme.

Welcome and yes it's a nicer atmosphere here compared to other social media gladiator pits!

Welcome, even if you've been doing photography for a while, you'll learn so much more and see some amazing photography and of course meet great people too. Enjoy :)

@not_left_handed thank you for the tips! I really love birds, feathers, all kind of animals, but I find it difficult to take pics of them because of the movement. I liked your photos very much! landscape pictures and plants are my favourite!

@dompetrus thank you! I wish the same to you! 190 photos already! wow! I'm pretty sure you'll never stop shooting!

@graemestevens I'll not be afraid of taking a risk and posting a photo that may be awful! I will take that advice seriously! thank you!

@karlow75 i will have so much fun here! you guys are amazing! I don't like using editing tools too much, but I will give it a try. I like when some of my pictures are just ''clean''. but I have this weird thought because of Instagram filters, not because any editing tools at all...

@kannafoot now you're talking! I love seeing the sides of my city that I don't usually look at. and not just the 'pretty' things, but also the bad things in São Paulo. I will take that advice more seriously. thank you!

@thomastoth thanks! I will be part of the challenge next week, and I hope I can do my best! new ways of shooting is the best thing here, i see! I'll try!

@homeschoolmom thank you, I'm already having! you guys are amazing! :) I'm sure that I have so much to learn, but I'll start with the basics, like you said.

@mbemis I'll do the challenges. that's so good, because taking pictures here isn't about being a bad photographer, it is about having fun! that means so much to me, such a great website! thanks for the advices!

@sidecar yes I see! wow, if I posted this on Facebook I would be seriously ignored! I'm just loving to see all kinds of replies! this is a REAL social media website!

@newbank I'll photography everything that is front of me. I promise. hahahahah

@bjdmum I'll sure will meet great people! I'm already learning and this is my first week here! thank you!
