I made a signature for my images using a tutorial made by @jinximages (http://365project.org/discuss/tips-n-tricks/2798/create-a-custom-brush-for-watermarks) that I had to adapt slightly for Gimp, but was really useful. Thanks for that Jinx.
The question I have is, do you think it looks OK on my photos? Or does it detract from them in some way? I've only started using it in the last few days, but have waited until now to ask so there are a few to see it on.
Anyway, basically I'm asking if you like it and if you don't, then why not.
@indiannie_jones - thanks. I think that's what I needed to hear. I'm that used to not seeing any marks on my photos that it feels strange to be doing this.
It is so discrete and gentle that I hadn't even noticed it!!! So, I like it. some watermarks/signatures dominate and ruin the picture ... your mark is just what it says, a little signature in the corner that certainly doesn't detract from the central focus.
I think it is fine. I created a brush in PS using that tutorial! It allows me to adjust the size, I don't know if that is available in GIMP or not. I agree with everyone else that says it is discrete and unobtrusive. In all your examples it works in the lower right corner, but don't get stuck with the placement. Try to find a place where it is out of the way. I have seen people who only put it in one place and it takes away from the photo.
@shadesofgrey - yes, I can change the size and frequently do. :-) I'll bear in mind what you said about placement too. The last thing I want is for it to be in the way. In these photos nothing has really been going on down there, but I know if stuff is, then that's not where my name should go.
@rebcastillo77 - can I ask which photos please? This is something I really want to get right, so your opinions are really useful.
@wormentude I hope you didn't take it as smarmy nose-stuck-in-the-air advice. I just felt I should mention it, as an aside. I am sure you are competent enough to figure it out, you take some amazing photo's so your sense of composition is well honed.
@shadesofgrey - no, not at all. I can quite see how it would be easy to slip into a habit of putting it in the same place all the time without really thinking.
Rachael- In most of your shots your signature is just fine I was mostly referencing the shot of the goldfish. Again this is just a matter of personal preference, and I think in most cases you have it right.
