Suggestions for Shooting Track Events

April 12th, 2011
I am hoping you can give me some advice on how to get more interesting photos for my son''s track events. Any suggestions for maybe different and interesting angles. He is doing the long jump and the 400. I think I will try panning at the next event (tomorrow depending on the weather- lots of rain coming our way). I understand how to pan, but doing it is another story. What should I put my settings at. Unlike soccer, basketball and football games where you have an hour or more of participation, with track, you only have three attempts at the long jump and he ran the 400 in 66.7 seconds. So I plan to practice on the girls if they go first again.

His long jump I took straight on.
