Hi, I just started photography about a year ago. I am 17 years old and I haven't ever taken a photography class so I am just learning on my own. I would love to know what you all think and any feedback or tips you could give would be phenomenal! I am going to art school in the fall for photography and I am freaking out that I am not going to be up to par with everyone else!
Go to a bookstore or library and read some photography books. Scott Kelby has a 3 part series that was extremely helpful for me. I can't recall the name at the moment but search the 'net for him and you will find it. Try one technique or process and when you are comfortable with it, pick something else and keep trying. Try outone different tings like macroI or landscape until you find your nich. School is for learning so I bet you will start at the beginning, don't stress, keep it fun!
Just took a look at your photos and I don't think you need to worry about not being up to par with others. Plus, as @shadesofgrey said, school is for learning and between now and then you should just shoot, shoot, shoot and try lots of different things. I wish you well... and my money is on you being very successful. :)
Am catching up with all my followers/followings so I didn't have a chance to look at your pictures, but that being said, you don't need to worry about 365. There are so many styles and people on 365 you'll fit right in and learn all at the same time. Many years ago I had a book called, The Joys of Photography or More Joy of Photography is more accurate I think. Any way it was a basic type book but it had excellent info and instruction. I'm sure you cold find it on ebay
First....get a book on digital photography....follow as many folks on the site as possible.....read the photos...look at the exif data to get an idea of how certain shots were done.....practice, practice, practice!!!
