Writers?

August 4th, 2011
Hey, off topic 'cause not about photography, but I like to write as my special and wonderful followers are bored of hearing, and I know a few people on here dabble.

Well, on my blog this month I'm critiquing and giving advice about writing!! So you can send me some if you subscribe!! Details and email address on my home page.

Nice one!

If I was less shy about sharing what I write, I'd definitely send you something! But to be fair, there isn't much point in asking for crit when one doesn't plan to show it to the masses. There's a kind of sweet irony in that, don't you think? Anyway, I won't waste your time with it. :)

Awesome thing you're doing. I hope people make the most of it! People less shy than me, that is.

I agree with @jinximages. I have a hard time sharing writing because it is so personal. I don't mind being critiques on photos but for some reason it feels like you are being punched in the gut if someone doesn't like your writing!

I think it is a wonderful service you are offering! I wish I was more confident to take advantage of it!

Because of this 365 project, I have started creative writing again. I'll check out your blog...

Thanks for your comments guys, I knew there'd be writers secreted away here because visually creative people often dabble with other projects. I'm publishing doing an MA etc. because one day I want to stop working, I've decided that for sure and however unrealistic that is in the era of the kindle and failing bookshops and publishing companies I'm committed to trying. There was a period where I wrote and was happy to read it and enjoy writing for itself so I know how you feel. I didn't show it to anyone, not even my family and it meant I wrote really private and secretive stuff. Then one day I sent some off, and then sent some more, and though it was years before I was steadily publishing I got caught up in it. I would say that the service I'm offering is for two devious reasons - 1. I want to one day teach creative writing and my blog is a way of forming my ideas and offering advice etc. and I want more writer-subscribers so I can blog about writing to that audience. Now I have a lot of Manchester-local subscribers who aren't interested in writing per se. Finally the critique I've seen on here is very very soft, and if you aren't interested in other peoples views, writing critique is often quite tough. My emails on my blog if you change your minds and thanks for looking.
