January 26 is Australia Day: the day the First Fleet of convicts arrived in 1788. We celebrate it with barbeques and picnics, ferry races on the Harbour, attend sporting events and fireworks displays. We also laugh at ourselves, wrap ourselves and everything else in Aussie flags, paint them on our faces and even mock it. Australians have always been great knockers and mockers.
The First Australians sometimes call it Invasion or Survival Day. Acknowledgement of Aboriginal peoples as the traditional owners and custodians of this land continues to be a significant issue.
Many 365ers also celebrate National Days. Post a photo you have taken on your National Day.
Mine is this one 'orse-stralia Day taken at a natural horsemanship games event
We have been away for the long weekend (well we made it one any way!!) Enjoying an Australia Day weekend with family & friends - so here is my belated pic taken on Australia Day :)

Last year...
and because I spent so much time in the US last year, 2011 was my first ever 4th of July in the USA - Oregon to be exact!
