so here it is ..a month into this project 365, and I have to share something with y'all. I was asked to do this by a very dear friend and at first I was hesitant. I tend to be a perfectionist and my own worst critic. I was thinking that my flaws were going to inhibit my ability complete the task. After the first few days, I was having issues with getting the "best" picture. It always has to be the best but today, I finally got it. I have been looking at the world through a lens for the last month, and EVERYTHING is beautiful! This project has given me a new way to look at the things around me. I look at the sky more, I look at trees more, I look at buildings more. I look at EVERYTHING more. Most of you know, that I have a very crazy hectic schedule, and this project has given me an excuse to "stop and smell the roses". I am very grateful that my friend, Jeanne Green asked me to join her. She has given me something I have never had. AN appreciation for the beauty thats around me. ANd now I am off to find my picture of the day :)
@selbeclan Everything around us has its own artistic beauty... And I'm with you! This project and community of 365ers have given me the reason to get away from my everyday routine, and pick up my camera and admire the things around me. I've uploaded 31 photos! A month into the project... and well... this project could be a routine that I could do everyday...
Amen, @grammyn ... I long ago discovered that there are days when perfect just isn't going to happen (my third photo in... the snow was gorgeous, but the pics I took of it, not so much!) and it's really about about the noticing and appreciating... and of course all the wonderful peeps here on 365! I value the new friends I have made here as much as all the friends in my life that I have actually met!
what a great post,. i love seeing things in a different way and appreciating light, shadows, and color. things people don't normally notice, or stop to look at. one of the greatest things about photography. 365 has helped with this more too lately!
I couldn't agree more. I am looking differently at everything now. I dare say I'm happier, seeing the "world" rather than worrying about the little things.
Excellent discussion... I have just finished my first month, and I have a sore neck from looking round so much (and that is a good thing) I have been living in on this planet for 28 years, I feel like I have only just began looking at it!
It comes and goes throughout the project, but overall I appreciate the world around me so much more. I'm also a perfectionist. I find that when I'm having the most trouble finding beauty, it is generally the perfectionism that is getting in the way. Not that I always realize that at the time :)
My perfectionism gets in my way, too. Like now I'm three days behind uploading because I have to closely scrutinize every shot or, in the absence of what I consider decent possibilities, wonder what I'm going to use. Then I feel overwhelmed as the days get away from me. I hope to catch up today or tonight.
I love that because of this project, I have taken to seeing so many different subjects and from so many perspectives.
Welcome to 365. :)
