In the simplest of terms

February 22nd, 2012
I have been asked to send someone a hi-res version of an image as a high quality JPEG saved at 300ppi?

Here is a snap of the image size details box thingie:

Now I was wondering if someone in the simplest of terms can please, pretty pretty pretty please tell me how to change to do what I have been asked of. Is it simply a case of just changing the current 72 to 300? Do I tick either of those boxes at the bottom, do I keep the locked link between the width, height and resolution? I'm ill, very very tired and just confused by everything I read and would really appreciate any help, information about this.

Thank you so much.

Yes change 72 to 300 and you can leave the rest.

Sarah,

Untick resample image (as you have done), change it to 300dpi and then you can retick it if you want, but not necessary. You will notice that the pixel dimensions stay the same but the document size will get smaller.

Hope this helps.

@coolgirlsar if you don't have an original with more pixels (for instance 4000x3000 or so...) then this is the way to go. Just type 300 with resample unchecked and send it. Oh, save the image as a jpg with the quality slide between 10 and 12. Do not usa save for web and devices for this.
