exif info removed

March 2nd, 2012
Yesterday, I took a photo with my Canon 40D and then uploaded it to my iPad. I then edited the shot in Snapseed and emailed it here. Unfortunately, somewhere along the way, the exif info got removed. I don't know if it is because of my iPad, Snapseed or because I emailed it.Has anyone had the issue where their exif info got removed?

Sending via email removes the EXIF.

Some editing programmes also remove the EXIF. Pixlr for example.

Snapseed doesn't strip my exif info. At least, it never has thus far - that was its main selling point, to me. :) Did you use any other program, too?

@beautifulthing I only used Snapseed.

@egad Hmm. I have no idea what could have happened! I use Snapseed all the time and always email them, and it hasn't ever happened to me. So odd! I hope you figure it out, I know that's frustrating.

Just out of curiosity, how do you upload photos from your canon to the iPad?

I've had this a couple of times when emailing my image from my iPhone, so i was also wondering why this happens?..

I email photos all of the time from my iPhone and the exif is always there, so I doubt that it was that. I'll bet it was snapseed; it's really common for editing programs to remove exif. That's why, as long as it's available I use Picnik, because you can do lots of stuff and the exif is still there.

@scrivna. I tested my programs last week, solved my own problem by exif embedded files being uploaded from the site. It appears that it is no longer working since the weekend. Is this a situation with the site lately. I even pulled up the exif to verify it is there prior to sending.

@beautifulthing Thanks. I will play around and see if I can figure it out.

@brumbe ahh. Kind of weird actually.

I've been using snapseed this week and most of mine have lost the exif info. I uploaded one image from my laptop and then tried emailing and both times no exif. Funnily a few images kept the exif after editing in snapseed so I have no idea whats going on!....

@rich57 mine was from Corel and worked last week

@miley89 E-mail? That's bullpucky.

@gurry Yeah I never used to be able to upload to this site at all. So I used to email from my Yahoo account on my computer. The exif was always removed. That was with no processing to the pictures whatsoever.

@miley89 I'm kind of intrigued by this, and I love troubleshooting. Would you mind telling me more about your process, like which camera and software you use?

@gurry I'm using a Sonyalpha SLR. The exif was being removed during the emailing process. I wasn't doing any post processing on my pictures at all. That was a year ago though. I have no problems uploading directly to the site anymore. So there's no need for me to email them.
