Canon Lens Jammed

March 23rd, 2012
Hello budding photographers.

I call on your expertise as I am a total novice.

I have a Canon EOS 550D that I was using with a Sigma DC 70-300mm lens and it seems to have suddenly jammed up and I am unable to move the lens at all to change the focus or zoom.

Has anyone had this happen to them? Any idea on what might have happened?

Thank you :-)

If it's a Sigma they are very, VERY fussy about being zeroed properly...the ring right at the back of the lens...closest to the camera...needs to be all the way to the extreme left (or maybe it's right) In any event just swing it one way or the other until your lens works.

Hi Sue

Thanks for your quick reply. I will try that and see if it helps :-)

I think I am going to have to take it to the pro's. It really seems like something inside it has jammed... Thanks for your help though Sue. @swilde

Good luck. Your title is misleading since it is NOT a Canon lens that jammed. That is why I looked to see which one it was, and it was not one. Get a Canon lens if you need a replacement.
