I started out on 365 three months ago and am so far enjoying it. One thing I'm really looking forward to is finishing the book that I'm doing for this project.
I've started this topic for two reasons. One, I really want to share my unfinished book with you as I'm extremely pleased with how it's progressing and two, for unashamed self-promotion reasons. I design books for a living and am just putting my services out there for anyone that is interested. Although I'm based in the UK I also have international clients so distance is not an issue.
I apologise if you see this as spam but my motto has always been: "if you don't ask, you don't get".
So beautiful, so well designed. I also started three months ago... I am thinking about producing a book each quarter.. to print. Which I hope will keep the cost down when I get it printed. Are you printing yours or just keeping online?? Thank you for sharing with us..
@sparkle Surely it doesn't. As I'm in the design field this is just what I do. Everyone will deal with their first year differently.
@fungirlslim Thanks Jen. Usually printing four smallish books works out more expensive then one big one. Keep an eye on your costs. I'll definitely be printing it. Something for the kids to look at when I'm old and grey :)
That looks awesome. How big is the book (dimensions) and what is the estimated page count going to be? I have several books in mind for my photo collection. It's a lot of work if you do it all at once.
@svenskaflicka Ive had a look through some of your pics and you can definitely make a book with them. You just have to make sure you keep the high resolution photos.
@jeancarl Book dimensions are 13 x 11 inches landscape. Not sure how many pages it will be but it's currently working out at around 12-18 pages per month. I've noticed my photography getting better over the weeks though and I'm wanting to make the good photos bigger so who knows how many pages it will end up being. The place where I print my books though can only print up to 400 pages. Hoping that it won't be that big!
@bobfoto Yours would look way cooler as you have more narrative to yours. I see a photo a page with your PNG photos. Photos that bleed of the page. Photos that go over two pages. Your 2012 project would look Stunning. With a capital S. Maybe you could even try and sell yours and give some of the proceeds back to the villages that you visited.
Great book idea Kareen. Your book is looking fantastic. I plan on doing a "mini" version just for myself at the end. Not all the photos, but maybe 5 to 8 per month. Some months are better than others!!!
Kareen, you are so very talented!! What an awesome book you have to keep for your kids!! I always enjoy looking at your photos. Not sure what I will do with mine when my year us up. I am a little past 300 now!!
@kareen - I would love to be able to give something back... perhaps to a charity set up for childrens education... might have to re-check all about Buk Bilong Pikinini... Now I am thinking.
@katiebrenkert I really want to put it into people's minds that they don't have to do the hard work of designing a book themselves and that if they have the budget they can get a professional to do it for them. So yes, I am offering but it seems a bit crass to be talking costs on here. My website is on my profile page. If interested can you inbox me?
@buttercup Thanks Mary. You always give me such positive comments on my photos. Maybe you could make a book of yours or do an online version like I've done or both. I'm a paper girl though. I love to flick through books.
