Photography Challenge

April 25th, 2012
This is my second go around with the 365 project, I am failing terribly :(
I have been playing with the idea of doing a 12 month challenge. My general thought was to pick a theme of some sort each month and shoot that... not so much things like flowers etc but more out of the box type stuff like space (e/g personal space, wide open spaces, tight spaces etc) I really would like to learn new skills and keep taking pictures non makeup related. So my question is can you help me pick my 12 themes?

Feel free to share an example if you like :D

It's going to be hard...but try to fit yourself into a cardboard box and take a photo to reveille a tight space....or someone you know who would be happy to help you. Hope this helps.

In the style of xyz. Find other photographers who have a style and copy for a while. Learn how they do what they do and it it to your skill set. Some of the people in here would work and many others out on the web.

Maybe its just me, but I wouldn't want to shoot the same subject all month long. I would find that boring. If I were going to undertake something like this I'd go frome a 12 month challenge to a 52 week challenge instead. That way it would remain fresh knowing that every week I was going to tackle a new subject.

I agree with @cromwell . I did a month of selfies and it was very tedious. By week three, it seemed that there was no light at the end of the tunnel.
April 25th, 2012
@cromwell Maybe you're right...hmmmm1 month is a long time.
April 25th, 2012
ahhhh @cromwell... I thought the same. Stay outta my head dude! lol

@tracywilliams Are you after specific ideas? There are the monthly ones I've seen too, where it's a shot a day set out...??
April 25th, 2012
@ozziehoffy Yes ideas would be great, I like being organised especially if I am to come up with 52 themes lol
April 25th, 2012
@tracywilliams -- Plus you'd have to consider those that follow you. Would they want to see some variation of the same subject for 31 days straight? Probably not. I'd bet that no matter how good your photo's turned out, by the third week most people would be like "Enough already!!" Maybe even you too! LOL!
April 25th, 2012
@cromwell I'd say you're right about that :D LOL 52 it is!
April 25th, 2012
@cromwell So, now throw some ideas out there!! Lol... I reckon you should do it too :P

@tracywilliams Let me have a think and see what I can come up with :)
April 25th, 2012
@ozziehoffy Thanks Cassandra :)
April 25th, 2012
@ozziehoffy -- What? I gotta do all the work? Didn't I ever mention to you that I'm lazy? :-p
April 25th, 2012
@cromwell LOL That's an idea :) I'll add lazy to my list!

@dhostick Thanks it's a great list :) I grabbed a couple of things from it :D
April 25th, 2012
@cromwell HAHAHA... and you get the credit for that.... :P Man, if I didn't speak up, you wouldn't have said that... see, my idea ;) ahahahhaah

April 25th, 2012
@tracywilliams Do some breaking the rules things... this week is breaking the rules, portrait... you'd be able to squeeze some of those in amongst your usual daily stuff! Over expose....ummm boxes... literal boxes.
April 25th, 2012
@ozziehoffy Great idea Cassie :) LOL I'll credit you both on the Lazy idea :D
April 25th, 2012
@tracywilliams lol thanks... and it's fun to stir Crom up hehe.
April 25th, 2012
I suggest doing weekly or biweekly themes, because month long projects can get boring.
April 25th, 2012
what about fences? windows? doors? gates? there must be millions of things out there that interest you. At least I've given myself a few ideas :)
April 25th, 2012
How about textures, negative space, light trails?
April 26th, 2012
@5unflow3r but your selfies were fun!
@tracywilliams You have to find your gift, perhaps look at other artists and art mediums not just photographs, I agree a month would be too long for me on one theme.
April 26th, 2012
I've been using a theme each month for year two, but I've kept them intentionally vague.

January was goals.
February was lighting.
March was simplify.
April is get outdoors.

Others I am leaning toward would be things like aperture, zoom, using just one lens ... I agree with the above comments that a single subject would get old quick.

@svenskaflicka @kwiksilver @debbim @httpgeffed @archaeofrog Thanks so much everyone for your input I have some fabulous ideas in mind :) My list is growing with broad subjects to make sure variety is available :D I have a few weeks left to fill but I am sure ideas will come as the project progresses.
