Any interesting Annular Eclipse Photos?

posted May 21st, 2012
This was my first Eclipse to photograph. This photo was taken near the ending and I'll post a full sequence when completed. Any other interesting photos of this event? Select the photo to get details on the shooting.

Very cool one! I've seen about the eclipse in the news, apparently it wasn't visible all around the world, at least it wasn't in my country.

Not in the Seattle area. Cloudy and raining. No sun visible at all.

I had to fight with cloudy conditions so I wasn't able to get the actual ring of fire. But I did get this shot through my son's welding helmet. LOL!

Ditto on the cloudy conditions here - we missed the peak entirely.

@mikegifford nice one, Mike. I like the added silhouette. Strange how much it looks like the moon, huh? I totally missed the eclipse last night on account of I was on an eastward facing beach casting for shad. Oops. It didn't really even get noticeably darker, either, so we may have had too many clouds.

@sdpace Stacy, the temperature dropped as the Sun was getting covered and the lighting temp dropped. I had to play with the settings a bit as the event took place. I also had a telescope and took some point-and-shoot photos through the eyepiece. Pretty cool overall...take care and I hope the little friend has positive results!

Look closely and you'll see the eclipsed sun in the center of the image. Best viewed large.

I drove north of Phoenix to where the wild fires are burning in the mountains. The smoke from the fires made a natural filter for the camera.

This is nowhere near the caliber of everyone else, but these are the shadows on the side of our house...thought it was interesting!

@melinareyes I saw these as well...very interesting how they are produced by the bending light. Nice pic!

This was 5 minutes before the peak of the event. We weren't on the center line in Los Angeles so we saw a partial eclipse.

This was right at the beginning of the event. Look closely and you can see 3 distinct sunspot groups.
