Number of 365 users?

May 30th, 2012
Does anybody know how many photographers have an active account in this project? I got the question in an interview about me&365.

@djepie Maybe actually email Ross as he runs the site?
May 30th, 2012
@djepie Do let us know if you find out : )

@djepie : The question was asked a couple of times before - try searching in past discussions.

Mel

It would be interesting to have the number displayed somewhere :)
May 30th, 2012
@boogie I like that idea : )

@jannaellen Did try so before I posted, but couldn't find. Sent Ross an email now.

I wanna know! I wanna know!!! Yes, I'm so curious...
May 30th, 2012
If you look at the Browse/By Day section you can see the number of photos submitted for that day - I imagine that that would give you an idea
May 30th, 2012
12
May 30th, 2012
@jantan Ah, that's quite a good indication! thanks. So about 1500.

Ross is right when he mails me
"Well that all depends on how you define "active". So it kinda depends on what you want.
# of users uploading yesterday
# uploading in the last 60 days?
# of people who logged in within the last 90 days"

So the @jantan 's tip I think is the best. Look at the number at the bottom of the page showing the daily photo posts at http://365project.org/browse/day
May 30th, 2012
I think that I would look at a bit longer ago than yesterday because some people will not have uploaded for that day yet. If you take a random but recent date, say 8th May then just over 3000 photos were uploaded, which is quite similar to the number uploaded for the 7th and 9th May.
May 30th, 2012
Don't forget there are some people with multiple albums though so there won't be as many accounts as photos....
May 30th, 2012
And people like me who have a blitz every now & then & do several at once. So, might be worth, if you do several days, include say some weekends days & some week days.

@38mm @lorraineb @lluniau @jannaellen @emjay8 @boogie @jantan @miley89 @judithg @emmadw
Here is the answer of the boss @scrivna, who e-mailed me:
"Well you could, but lots of people use the site but don't upload every day.
Currently the way I count it is logins within the last 30 days. And that number comes out at around 10,000 people.
Although close to 100,000 have attempted it."
What a project! Though some days it's tough, I like it so much!

@djepie Thanks!
May 30th, 2012
@djepie Wow! Thats a big number!! Thanks for letting us know : )
May 30th, 2012
@djepie Great info, Jaap.
May 30th, 2012
@djepie That's alot of photos!!!!
May 30th, 2012
Boy, then there are a LOT of photos I never see!
May 30th, 2012
10,000! How am I going to look through all those?

Can I add a second part to this question. How many +FAV's do you need to get on the Popular page?
May 31st, 2012
I think Ross have writen on the profile a while ago that it was around 70.000 members... I also wonder the same.

May 31st, 2012
I know what you mean Flagged, I am not sure about the 'Over Photoshoped' Images.
@flagged

@gphelps5 @carrapeta00 My experience is that you need about 7 FAV's for the PP, but ofcourse it depends on the number of fav'ed pics that day.
May 31st, 2012
@flagged Well said
May 31st, 2012
@djepie But don't forget that even those who log in every day do not necessarily upload pictures. I know some people who just follow others and have registered to get pictures of whom they follow into their feed directly rather than searching for them every day. I guess the number of uploaded pictures gives a more realistic view of the 'active and uploading' users.

@gphelps5 I don't think fav's have anything to do with getting picked for PP. @lauriehiggins interviewed Ross and it's some mysterious selection method. I'd like to know how it is that you can make the PP for an hour. I've gotten congratulations and have gone to the PP and I'm already gone. I think you can have a very short life on the PP or you can spend a good week there. Doesn't matter much. There are so many talented photographers on this website.
