Ross is right when he mails me
"Well that all depends on how you define "active". So it kinda depends on what you want.
# of users uploading yesterday
# uploading in the last 60 days?
# of people who logged in within the last 90 days"
I think that I would look at a bit longer ago than yesterday because some people will not have uploaded for that day yet. If you take a random but recent date, say 8th May then just over 3000 photos were uploaded, which is quite similar to the number uploaded for the 7th and 9th May.
And people like me who have a blitz every now & then & do several at once. So, might be worth, if you do several days, include say some weekends days & some week days.

Here is the answer of the boss @scrivna, who e-mailed me:
"Well you could, but lots of people use the site but don't upload every day.
Currently the way I count it is logins within the last 30 days. And that number comes out at around 10,000 people.
Although close to 100,000 have attempted it."
What a project! Though some days it's tough, I like it so much!
@djepie But don't forget that even those who log in every day do not necessarily upload pictures. I know some people who just follow others and have registered to get pictures of whom they follow into their feed directly rather than searching for them every day. I guess the number of uploaded pictures gives a more realistic view of the 'active and uploading' users.
@gphelps5 I don't think fav's have anything to do with getting picked for PP. @lauriehiggins interviewed Ross and it's some mysterious selection method. I'd like to know how it is that you can make the PP for an hour. I've gotten congratulations and have gone to the PP and I'm already gone. I think you can have a very short life on the PP or you can spend a good week there. Doesn't matter much. There are so many talented photographers on this website.

So the @jantan 's tip I think is the best. Look at the number at the bottom of the page showing the daily photo posts at http://365project.org/browse/day

Can I add a second part to this question. How many +FAV's do you need to get on the Popular page?
