Hi, I've just taken jpeg as I don't really know what to do with RAW photos. But I also understand that RAW is like the negative and you can do a lot of post editing.
I guess I was wondering do you always shoot RAW? And what programs do you use to view the pictures and edit them?
Same here, always RAW, I do my preliminary sort in ViewNX, it does some editing but I mainly use it to quickly view my shots, delete the duds and rate the remaining ones, then I import them into Lightroom for final editing and labeling. The only time I go into Photoshop is for heavy editing where layers or merging photos is required.
I shoot RAW+JPEG on most occasions, take a bet either way. If the JPEG meets my needs I don't bother messing with the RAW. Shot exclusively RAW for a long time but gone this way to shorten my workflow and save time since I started shooting commercially. I process with OpenSource software such as RawTherapee, digiKam and Gimp B-)
Depends on the camera. If I use DSLR or rangefinder with relatively fast read/write speed and can produce "good quality images (technically)", raw+ jpeg. Otherwise only jpeg. Say... 80% is raw+ jpeg.
I shot jpg for years, and switched to raw last year. It opens up a whole new set of possibilities. I use the NX2 from Nikon, or Bibble to process the images.
Thanks all for all your lovely comments, I have started to play around with RAW and it is a little different. I switched my camera to both jpeg and raw. That way I can still play around with some of the shots but can easily upload and email other shots for friends and family to view.
@tracywilliams I love that I inspired something so awesome.
