CS2 legally for free via Adobe

January 8th, 2013
Adobe wants to stop with the registration servers for CS2 and therefore gives all software for free including serial numbers. Check their website: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/cs2_downloads/index.html
Okay, the software is rather old. But it's up to you to choose a legal CS2 Photoshop instead of e.g. a Photoshop Elements latest version.

Wow.

If you don't have Photoshop, run and grab yours. CS2 is an immensely powerful tool.

Thats a good offer for people wanting to start experimenting with Photoshop.

I would recommend it totally. Sure it's the old version - but I'm still using the original CS and it does everything I want it to.

I currently use PS Elements 10, is it worth getting CS2 also ?

What a good score!

Should I point out that it's not actually 'free', they are just not policing the license any more and that if you use it without giving them money, you can't legally use it?

Nah. Can't be bothered.

Woohoo!

No, it's not free. The registration numbers were not sent out with all the downloads and they are giving them to those who have already purchased CS2. If you ever want to upgrade you will need those serial numbers.

Lol adobe doesnt give anything away for free. They are just terminating their activation servers thats all. You still have to have a valid license for cs2 they are just providing a serial number thats all. Adobe has since released a statement saying its not free to download unless you have already purchased it.

CS2 does not work on newer operating systems. I lost my CS2 when i upgraded to Lion.

@zody Thanks Delaine, saved me a download.
According to Adobe
"The known Photoshop specific issues are that PPC based droplets and versions of Photoshop CS2 and earlier will not be able to run on Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) due to the lack of Rosetta support in 10.7."

@zody Same here---I was so sad not to be able to run my CS2, Dreamweaver 4 and my Office for Mas when I got a new Mac with Lion. :-( All that money....

Don't worry, Adobe says they will not make problems for downloading without former purchase: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4975256#4975256 @dmortega @soia

I now have CS6 which works beautifully on Lion. The new PhotoShop is exquisite.
