Help!

January 18th, 2013
I was sitting on the floor of my sons room snapping pictures of him when suddenly my 50mm f/1.8 prime lens would not focus at all. I had it on auto focus and had not touched it. I have a canon rebel t3 and I have no clue what to do to fix it...anyone have any advice? Today is my birthday so I really want to use this lens and I don't want to be stuck using my kit lens :/

Did the AF/MF switch get bumped? It may be now set on manual focus. I did that once on mine

@wadazomo I checked that and even when I switch it to manual focus, I can't turn it to focus it manually either :/

As per @wadazomo . Also, if you get too close to the subject, or the room is too dark, I find the lens just seems to close down a bit and not respond to anything.

I would then turn off the camera, take off the lens and reattach it. See if that works. I would also check with my kit lens to see if it is a lens issue or a camera issue

When you take it off, wipe off the edges of the camera and lens where they connect to make sure they're clean. I hope you get it working again.

Happy birthday!

This sounds silly, but there has been times when this has happened to me and it is my batteryneeding charged.

Thank you guys for your advice...I had tried all that before but it seems like it is stuck. The camera works completely fine with my other lens on so idk what the deal is...I might just take it somewhere to see if they can figure it out.
