Doppelgangers...

February 8th, 2013
This is just a silly topic, but I thought it would be fun. Has anyone ever been told they look like someone else? A celebrity? A friend of a friend? A neighbor? A wanted criminal? (j/k) =P

I'm pretty sure this has happened to nearly everyone. And personally, it always makes me feel a little weird to hear it.

Anyway, classes just started up again, and I've been told twice now that I look like this actress. I'm not familiar with her, having never seen this movie (I know, I know, get out from under the rock). I dunno...she's nice looking, but I don't really think I look like her. We have quite different features.

Without further ado, let's see the doppelgangers! Share if you've got one, if you think you've got one, or if you disagree with someone's opinion of your look-alike.

This is something I'm very curious about. And why we sometimes look like random strangers! Is it all just a matter of opinion, or is there some universal truth to it???

See my thumb! I look like santa in the morning :-) I think it's normal that you don't think you look like here but I sure do see some resemblance... I have a twin, completely different boys, no resemblance at all. Still there are people getting confused!

My best friend and I worked at a boy scout camp together but in different departments. I worked in the kitchen and she was in charge of aquatics. Almost daily, I'd have a scout master come up to me calling me by my friend's name and asking me questions pertaining to aquatics. This would happen throughout the summer with new troops coming in weekly.

I don't think we look anything alike. Our only similarity is our height (I look shorter in the photo because I was wearing flats and my friend was in heals) and a few mannerisms.

My former sister-in-law and I used to get told we looked exactly alike by strangers quite often. We were similar in height, eye and hair color, but that’s it. I think it annoyed my brother!

@annaruth I wouldn't say you look that much alike. For one thing, your friend has a beard, and wears glasses. :-))

I must have a familiar looking face or features. Throughout my life I have been told I look lime someone, or remind people of someone they know. Less so now than when I was younger....I think it also depended on the color of my hair at the time. The list of my so called celeb look-a-likes is long. The ones I heard most was Debbie Harry, Geena Davis, Cameron Diaz. I have also heard Mischa Barton and Janet Gretzky. Not sure how I could possibly look like any of these people, and don't think I look like any of them!

In the mid-80's I was approached by a group of ladies at an airport and they asked for my autograph. Apparently I looked like someone on a soap opera.

There is a photo project here that covers that........people that are not related, but look like twins in another time......

I'm sure I have a normal twin somewhere in the world (that makes me the evil/strange/weird one?) But I have yet to find them.

Hmmmm,

Most recently, in this photo:

Richard ( @brav ) thinks I look like Jackie Earle Haley:

I'm sure he means the image on the right... :)

Throughout my teen years as an Army Brat, every time we moved people told me that I looked like "Carol" who had just moved away. Since we moved from military community to military community, I figured that my father replaced her father in the rotation of assignments. Never met her, though.

I watched The Hunger Games on blu-ray last week and you do look like her. I have twin daughters and people always say how alike they look, but I can't see it myself.

I get Charlie Sheen quite a bit.... Don't see the resemblance myself:

@welcometocarolworld Wow, that is really interesting! Are they strangers, and then meet at the photo shoot? Or, do they know each other and apply together?

@johnf haha! Yes, there is that as well ; )

I had completely typed a reply to everyone's comments and then my internet decided to crash. I apologize, but I don't have the heart to type it all again. Just know that I thank you all for your input and that is all very interesting. Still hoping to see more side-by-side shots from fellow 365ers, maybe without the gore. ;-) @grizzlysghost

I don't know if this counts. I haven't found my doppelganger but here is a picture of my daughter.

I somehow missed this discussion when it happened, but thought I'd contribute.

Depending on my weight phase and level of animatedness, I'm regularly told that I look either like Alton Brown or Elton John.

Damon Hill + Robert Carlyle + Alan Rickman + Captain Morgan =

Allegedly.

Which is weird, because my hair is never as long as Damon's or RC's. I am wondering if I should grow it and/or a beard though.

@squamloon Thanks. Missed this one, myself.
