Probably a silly question i'm a newbie here, but how do people's photos get chosen for the New faces and popular page?

It's not a silly question Rachel, it is all worked out automatically by what Ross calls magic monkeys. If you do a search you will see that that there have been LOTS of threads about it before (and lots of theories about how it works)

@trailertrash You can play leap frog with a monkey but that would be pretty dangerous with a unicorn. Monkeys - 1, Unicorns - 0 ;-)

I have a theory on this but sure I am wrong. Popular page is based on comments, favs and views in a time frame.

@brav Pretty certain there there is a ratio of views to comments and favs also. wouldn't be fair if only those people with 400 followers could make the PP.

I worked the numbers on this when I was younger and had more time on my hands. Don't ask me to do it now. Basicsally if you have 4 views, 4 comments and 4 favs you'll make the pp (çause that's 100%). If you have forty views, ten comments and 4 favs you won't. That seems pretty fair to me as it means you include people with not a lot of followers.

@racheldp I too am new and have searched through all the threads wondering the same, and found for the PP page it seems that nobody really knows and aren't likely to find out! I personally am more interested in comments and help from the people kind enough to follow me and I'm so appreciative of them all.

I am however interested in how the New Faces page works, the photos shown on there also seem to be ones that are viewed and commented on a lot, and often pop up on both that page and the PP! I think it's fair to say its one of those mysteries of the universe that will never be answered!

I think your photos are lovely by the way, and I hope that you make the PP one day ...

@jubu Thankyou I love seeing people's comments too. I was just a bit confused as have had a few PP photos and had two of my photos on the New Faces page in the last two days but didn't think i was that new anymore was curious if it was random. Thanks everyone for replying :)
