Can I re-upload an improved photo?

March 30th, 2013
Hi all and Happy Easter!

I've recently cleaned up a shot I had taken earlier, but since I've already posted it on 365 I'd like to replace that post with the updated version. To do this, do I just upload the new version and pick the same date as the old one? If I do this, will previous description, comments, etc. be wiped out, or persist?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I often have the same thought too!

Unfortunately at this stage you can't - you'll just have to delete the original photo and re-upload as if it's a new photo (you'll still be able to pick the same date as the original photo since you deleted it).

It would be a cool feature though :) @scrivna

@pocketmouse Thanks. I guess I'll just post a new version for the next date, then. It seems somewhat rude to delete all the people nice enough to comment. ;)

HI!
If you are an ACE member you can make changes and processing through the Pickmonkey editing programme available for members. This allows you to replace the previous version with the new one, leaving all the thread of comments and description unchanged.. I think that if you delete the previous version and, using the same date, upload a new one, all that will be wiped out: It would be like uploading a new photo.
Maybe 365ers who have a better knowledge of the system can clarify on the matter.
Happy Easter to you!

Yes, if you upload a new photo it will replace the existing one as a new photo (even if it's an improved version) so you will lose all your comments and any favs, etc.

As Mara said, if you can edit the existing one in Picmonkey you will be able to keep all the comments and have your revised version too.

If are are an ace member, simply:
1. Go to the picture you want to update
2. Click the 'edit in Picmonkey' link
3. While still in Picmonkey open your new (updated) photo to replace the original
4. Save / close Picmonkey
5. It will warn you that this will save over the original
6. When you get back to 365 you may not see the pic (Image error / Red X)
7. Simply hit F5 to refresh the page.

Job done - No comments lost.

@bulldog Genius!

@bulldog That's an interesting wrinkle. Thanks.

I wonder though, if that isn't then misleading when people look at it a few months later. "What does that person mean, 'you should photoshop out the bikini?' Cheesebiscuit is clearly naked in that photo!"

@mara19500 @bulldog @mercuria Thanks all for the help on this one. Looks like it's problem solved as long as you're an ace member. ;)

Good point, but O would only ever use this to upload an better version of the same picture. It would not be fair to change the image.

@bulldog Yes, okay, I used a rather silly example. But what if the improvements conflicted with comments (e.g. if you improved it in response to comments)? I don't know. I think I'd just put the new version in another album or on a different date (maybe the original date minus one year or something) and put a link to the improved image.

I just read your Can I re-upload an improved picture and thanks to @bulldog I tried it just now..it's easy and it works.
I chose a picture and cropped it a bit more in Pickmonkey and used some of the processing tools which gave the picture a totally different effect. thanks Bulldog for sharing this with us.
