Opinions Requested (book building)

I realize that the 365 project is full of personal preferences, "it's my project and I can take pictures of what I want".

That said, I have been building a BLURB book of trains of the BNSF Columbia Subdivision. For the past three years when we have been on vacation in eastern Washington, I have added to the books. But I have found that I have multiples of the same location that I have added to the book. So I have, at this point, a very detailed photo journal of what feels like every inch of the Horseshoe Curve near Trinidad, WA. Also, there is more character to the terrain between Wenatchee and Quincy, then east of Quincy (perhaps that is because of 19 years of landscape photography in Arizona and I desire something other that vast expanses)

So what is you opinion of books that get to that detail, where the left page has the daytime photo, right page has the night photo of the same location?

And if I could define the story that I'm trying to tell, does that make a difference to the variety of photos include? And is perhaps part of my quandary.

Thanks for your opinion.

What do you want people to know from this project? This seems like a question that should be answered before you can choose what images to use.

I think less is more. The right full page photo with a small caption can speak louder than a page full of shots. You probably need to make a story board, basically frames on a paper that layout your story. Do you want to capture different seasons in sequence, or do you want do to a timeline sequence. The story will define the pictures.

It definitely depends on who your intended audience is.
