Just wondering if this is worthwhile getting? I'm tempted as I love the idea of having a little studio at home, especially one that seems portable and doesn't take up too much space.

Thoughts/advice?

Thanks!

Looks good to me, even just for the camera stand. I'm tempted.

@bobolaf I've just found it on Amazon as well for the same price - got some decent reviews so I might just buy it off there rather than fiddle around with groupon. Apparently the camera stand is a bit flimsy but the rest is pretty good.

Good detective work, mate. Should i wait for a review from you or just get it? Hmmmm.

@bobolaf I'm going to keep mooching on Amazon I think, see if I can find the 60x60 one - and then maybe wait until after payday as there's no rush to buy it today like there is with groupon

I have that set, I bought it at a local shop here in Rotterdam about 1-2 years ago. I think they sell it for 30-35 euro here which is much cheaper than even the groupon. It's decent but I don't think the groupon is really that great a deal in the end, no cheaper than what you'd probably pay for it in the shops. Unless I'm understanding the price wrong... that is saying 34,99 and that you SAVE 35 pounds? No way that sells for 70 euro anywhere.

Did I misunderstand the pricing?

If that pricing is right, maybe I should buy them all up at the local shop and sell them to Brits! haha I could make a tidy profit!

*Edit* Just looked it up on one of the Dutch shops online, they are selling it for 29,50 euro...

I've got one of these. They're small and portable, and pretty useful. The price isn't really a deal though as I paid less from Maplins.

Never used the lights as they get really hot really quicky and blew. You can get similar lightboxes off ebay.

@amyamoeba I find that as well, they get CRAZY hot.

@amyamoeba I actually like that one on ebay better... I hate the blue background on the thing I have, I always set it up upside down so I can have white on all sides. The one you posted on Ebay has all different colors for backgrounds, which I think is handy!

@breigh @amyamoeba Thanks for all your info Amy & Breigh - think I'll give the groupon a miss! Glad I asked on here - I always know I can trust my fellow 365'ers :)

yeah i think that the 40 x 40 would be WAY too small. From memory i have an 80 x 80 light tent and i'm finding that a little restrictive when I shoot handbags...

@toast Thanks for the heads up - will keep looking I think!

np.. keep in mind when you shoot.. even if you zoom in you're going to see the edges of the light tent.. and the creases in there... so your shootable area is actually smaller than what you expect

I have a similar (if not the same) one - I rarely use it - but make sure you only leave the lights on for a few minutes at a time (whilst composing/exposing) the one I had was passed to me by a photographer that managed to leave it on for about 20 mins - and melted one of the lamp holders! !

@styru Oh no! Will definitely have to keep an eye on that, I don't want to start any fires!

seen pretty much the same thing on ebay for £24
