Greetings All - I'm looking for the best watermark program/options. I would like to add some watermarks to my photos but not sure what the best options are.
Please accept this as encouragement. Most of the time watermarks ruin the image. It will not prevent anyone from stealing the image because they will crop it off or clone it out which are not difficult. My suggestion is not to watermark the images.
the question is, why do you want to use a watermark? If it is to prevent stealing, the compression rate on 365, Facebook, etc is so severe that that biggest print a person would be able to print with decent quality is 4x6... and watermarks, as @chapjohn mentioned, can be cropped or cloned out. If you want to add one as a way to sign your work like an artist because you are proud of your work, then by all means sign it... but try to do it in a way that isn't distracting.
I agree with John and Jeff - I can't stand seeing a watermark on a beautiful image and if people want to steel your work, they will.
