Thanks for posting this, I used to work very close to this, but my Granny was born in Brick Lane in 1898, and was a true cockney born in the sound of Bow Bells. I'd love to find a picture from around the turn of the Century.

I have a tape of my Granny talking about how she used to.... almost beg I suppose....around Spitalfields market as a child. she mentions some shops I should listen to it again, and contact the blog writer! She had a fascinating start in life, so much harder then than we can even imagine now! Thanks again!

Thought I knew where some images were, but not so straight forward (when is it ever straight forward lol)
