I want to learn to use Photoshop. All of the tutorials I find on Youtube and the Adobe site seem to be for people who already understand the basics, even though they are tagged 'for beginners'. I need something for a really dumb, slow beginner. ;-) Anyone have any suggestions?
I only have Photoshop Elements which had been on my computer for a few years unused. I embarked on the Sandbox projects, but was quickly out of my 'element' because I didn't have the basic basics. Brush...what's that? How do I draw a line? I learn better with hardcopy, so I bought a book with step-by-step projects to practice, "How to Cheat in Photoshop Elements 11." I even got competent at doing some of the basics! Then I stopped practicing and now I'm back to going through the book again. However, if you are a beginning beginner like me, you might want to consider something like that book. Found it on amazon.
Oh yes ... as soon as I remember how to find those brushes and create layers I am definitely going back through the Sandbox tutorials here on 365. I haven't given up!
Thank you for your suggestions. @aecasey, that's my problem too! I don't know what the words they are using mean. I'm paying for a subscription to Lightroom and Photoshop, so I don't really want to spend more for another program. I use Lightroom every day and I feel comfortable and competent there. I looked for a community education class for Photoshop and it's $199 for 4 classes. Incredibly frustrated!

Especially he shows you, without a lot of fuss as other authors engage in, how to use Lightoom and Photoshop together comfortably.
