I'm curious, since I'm new at owl-spotting: has anyone used flash who's had success with shooting owls at night? I've been able to successfully call screech owls in over the last two nights, and even got two of them talking last night. I was using the flashlight on my iPhone to spot them, and they stayed briefly. (It's very hard to hold the phone and try to focus the camera tho!) I'm afraid using the flash might scare them. Any tips??
@studiouno Flashlight works better. If you can, take someone with you to hold it and have them shine the light from the side you will get nice lighting and no red eye.
I posted a shot on Jan 17 of a shot down with a flashlight, it is okay, but I'll try to post one that has better flashlight lighting and is shows what you get from an angle instead of head on.
