Hey,Ross,I hope you read this soon.
A member of this website IS FUCKIN` USING MY PHOTO AS HERS!
...please burn her alive,or at least do a disappearing act on her?
...but A LOT of people know it`s MINE from LAST WEEK. It even made it on the PP,for a day or two. So this is fucked up. ....and sorry,my tourette-syndrome kicked in because im shocked.
...meantime,everyone who reads this and wants to support my "cause",please leave a comment of how much you "love" photo-thiefs,on this lame human being photos (wich she stole from me) http://365project.org/mickaela/365/2010-12-28
This IS really disturbing. Now, NO one should HAVE to put watermarks or tags ON the photo to keep it safe. I have wondered about reporting people in the past since, this is technically supposed to be a family oriented site I suppose, or at least the vast magority of people who use this site keep it G rated. Anyway, people whi swear excessively really get my goat, but now this!??? Just really really scary...
@individuality_a
Hey,I`m sorry if my use of strong language is disturbing or annoying, and I rarely talk like that, but this is really something too unexpected and shocking, for me.
And,as you know,I often I take this project too seriously.
@spaceman Oh, I don't mean you now. I mean excessive swearing constantly. I do feel your pain, I really do, though I thank you for being concerned. :) thank you.
Is it possible that she doesn't understand that it's wrong? I mean she would have to know the photo would be recognized. She has another one from the 30th that was apparently downloaded and then uploaded as well although I can't find the source. Perhaps she is posting what she liked? :(
I'm new here and no one would want to steal what I will post as their own, but I can understand how upsetting it would be for those that are talented.
There is another post today about stolen pics from the Internet. :( Not a good way to end 2010 or start 2011.
I also posted this on her picture as a comment, it states clearly and in no confusing terms that you can take her to court for this.
And you don't need to have filed for copyright with your photo either. The photo is automatically copyright when it is taken, and can be used as evidence in court that it is yours as long as you can supply proof of the date you took it (Exif info) and that it's yours. Purchasing a copyright is just extra insurance for situations like this one, but it can be done without the actual paid copyright.
@nanascraps if this is true (which is possible) The right thing to do is to say as much under her photo. i'll admit, on days I thought I would never get a pic taken, I thought about doing some advertiseing for Bing, and upload Their daily photo, but I at least would have said as much!
I thought about that, too.Maybe she`s too young and naive. But honestly, with her photo "description" and even thanking someone for complimenting the photo,it looks like she is taking credit for it. Or else, she would have responded something like "hihihi, thanxxx ,bt itz not even my pic, sowy, lolzzzz" (that`s how teens talk) ..but no,she didn`t do that,so... Off with her head!
...but seriously, that photo reflects me and my state of mind from that day,and that makes it unique to me
"Unfortunately photos on the internet spread like a wildfire and once someone doesn't give credit - everyone else catches on too and artist's works become anonymous pieces. I really wish that people would credit, it doesn't do any harm to do so and just shows that little bit of respect."
(And these are actually her words, I saw one of her photographs floating around tumblr and brought it to her attention. This is what she said in response)
Anyways.
This is completely wrong. It shouldn't happen to anyone and honestly, i find it to be a bit low.
It just makes me wonder, is anything on that stream really hers? (I hope so)
@spaceman I agree. I hadn't see her comment before I posted. I guess it just shocks me that someone would do that - especially from this site and a pic that was so well known already. Just makes no sense. Sorry that this happened to you. Sort of takes the fun out of posting if people do that.
@amyhughes
I`m not from the States,I`m from Romania,so I`m not sure the very same copyright laws apply. But international copyright laws are probably similar.
Thank you, anyways. I`m not saying I would go to court over something like this,I`m just an amateur photographer. But it pisses me off to see something like that happen here,on this nice lil` website full of nice people.
@spaceman oh I figure. It's a lot of money to go to court, even civil court. It's the principle for me I think, which is what I'm sure you're so angry about too. It's that she should know better, but not just because it's wrong. Because it's illegal and if you wanted to, you could make her learn a very, very hard lesson for one stupid decision. That was the main reason I put that up. I guess it's the teacher in me coming out, trying to teach these kids these life lessons and what would happen in the real world if someone felt like doing something like that.
Gosh, I cannot believe that something like this would happen within the site!! I hope it can be resolved quickly, because I fully agree this is unacceptable.
i pulled yours and hers up side by side and they VIRTURALLY DO NOT CHANGE when I toggle back and forth. She stole it outright and that effing crapola! Hopefully Ross will remove her account.
So do not take this in any way as my supporting her because she is completely in the wrong and it was correct to let her know that it belonged to someone else and that you knew it wasn't hers but the language used ( @spaceman@eyebrows ) was inappropriate especially as it looks like she is young ( speaking as a mother). That being said i am sorry this had to happen to you ( @ spaceman)
I was wondering why everyone put watermarks on their pics on this site, I see why now. Note to self: watermarks from now on. Sorry about the situation, that's BS.
@carajill i started putting a watermark on my photos a short while ago when 365 made all those new changes to it's site. (If your completely new to the site within the last couple of days, you won't know what I mean, sorry)
Anyways, it completely degrades an image 90% in my opinion, but i don't feel safe without it. I barely feel safe with it.
i can't believe this! what's point of doing this project if it's not your photo! i'm so sorry and so disturbed to see this happened in this community. I'm anxious to see what will happen.
Wow. That's some nerve. Or some sort of sociopathology. @spaceman Sorry this happened to you!!! Makes one wonder where else photos could be used..... (sorry to introduce such an awful thought.)
@spaceman really sorry that this has happened to you! If you want to contact Ross you can email him at ross@365project.org . He is very promt at responding to emails, and is usually trolling these discussion boards as well, so chances are he is already aware of the issue and will resolve it pronto. I hope this doesn't put sour grapes in your mouth about using this site.
Wow--there's a crazy plea for attention. Has anyone notified her last 3 Followers? I expect her account will be closed down. Really sorry that happened to you, Martin. I would be upset too.
Thanks for your participation, this thread has now been closed.
^ That ought to work. Remember it's just hit midnight in the UK so he's probably busy.
