LR/CC Expert?

Is there such a thing as a person who would come to help with my LR files on my computer (I live outside of Washington DC).

I have most of my photos on an external drive, and I used to be able to view the previews and search them in my LR catalog. They were not linked correctly though (little ? appeared next to the date), but that was ok because I could just go to the external drive and get the photo I needed. However, now the little preview doesn't appear when I click on those dates (years worth of photos!), but the rest of the metatdata seems to be there. It knows how many photos should be in the folder for the date, I can see stacks, file names, etc... but no preview of the photo.

To make matters worse I tried to click on the find file option, and it deleted that day from my catalog altogether. I did see it show a preview of about 4 of the photos from that day, and it seems to have renamed them.

At this point, I would be happy to have someone come here and work on it!

I live in eastern NC, much less populated than your area, but the local camera shop had someone who came and helped me with something. An hourly rate but well worth it. You might call shops in your area.

Hi Tracy do you mean the question mark shows inthe Library module as described here ? - https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1922153

if you do ever move or change images from 'outside' of LR, it does have a hissy fit - see Julianne Kosts videos at http://blogs.adobe.com/jkost/tag/folders-and-subfolders

LR cataloging is not intuiive, but once it makes sense life is a lot easier, but I went through similar experiences of losing images a lot in the first 3 months!

you have not said where they dont show - is it in the filmstrip or the main screen? if you can post a screen shot it might help me understand the problem more clearly.? [ I am def no expert, but happy to lend you a hand!!] :-D

I've had trouble in the past when I've accidently created another catalogue by mistake and not noticed. It's worth checking that LR is referencing the catalogue name you expect.
