Hello everyone, so, I finally decided to take the plunge and see whether I can do it.
I'm Guy, from Leicester, England and a keen amateur hoping to improve, and discover some new things about this addictive and frustrating hobby of mine(ours?).
My main reason for doing it is that I've found it all to easy to NOT make the effort to take some pictures because a) I'm too tired, b) I'm not feeling creative, c) the weather will be better tomorrow, etc, etc, despite the fact that I always enjoy it and, no matter how many books, magazines and youtube videos I watch, I'll only get better by actually taking some actual photos.
It's only 6 days in but the discipline of doing it every day is already helping to remove the reasons for not doing it - only 359 days to go! And the incentive to try a little harder to get more of it right in-camera and avoid spending more time editing than shooting, has already started to pay off.
I'm more than happy to receive constructive criticism, and offer my own if anyone thinks it might be of value, and hope to enjoy some of the warmth, cameraderie (see what I did there :) ) and encouragement I've seen on the site already.
Welcome to the 365 family! You will never find a better site of wonderful photographers ( some of us are just happy snappers) an exceptionallyl lovely and supportive community. You are sure to have a great time here. Enjoy :-)
It does seem to get easier(ish) . theres a few here from up north (well Leicester's up north to me!) You could look for tags in your locality (Bradgate Park for instance) and see if you can copy\ improve!!
Enjoy being here its addictive, fun, friendly and addictively addictive!
Welcome!
You're right that it's easier to find excuses NOT to take photos! The difficulty in taking them comes and goes - after a few weeks you get into the habit of taking photos, but after a few months the novelty goes away and you can lose inspiration for a while. It's worth sticking with it though, at the end of the year looking back on how much you've improved is a fantastic feeling :)
Welcome Guy.... Have fun, and get involved with the challenges, it's a great way to meet other members, find inspiration and to have a little fun with learning along the way.
Welcome to the party, as long as you have a camera with you, you can do the whole year, just take a picture of what you "see", no matter how large or small.
Enjoy being here its addictive, fun, friendly and addictively addictive!
