Well I know there are many fantastic photographers here yet I know that everyone will have their weak points. So I was wondering, what style of photography do you feel you are weakest at?
I feel I am very poor at portraits I rarely, if ever, manage to capture the look that I want. It is something I hope to work on whilst completing my 365, finding subjects is difficult though as my husband and most of my friends duck for cover when my camera comes out! (I haven't decided yet if this is because they don't like having their photos taken or if they sense I'm just that bad!)
Probably that they don't want their pic taken! people are quite funny like that i find. My husband pulls stupid faces whenever i point my camera at him and then just laughs if i tell him i want a proper pic...
I'm weak at portraits too - mainly coz my kids are at that run/crawl about like loonies stage and its hard to practise lol
definately sport shots, this is one i really really want to learn to do. My sons play football and do swimming i would love to be able to capture action shots
probably everything...hence i'm on here trying to take a picture a day to learn more....
but i'm definitely lacking in the manual settings department....and coming up with clever ideas for pictures.....and execution of the random good ideas i get
Portraits and birds. I could click away and still not get them right. I've got loads of other weaknesses I can't remember right now but I'm still learning
Portraits. My friends run whenever they see my camera. They probably know how bad I am at taking portraits. Buildings would come in number two on things I am bad a photographing. I have this idea for a series and it involves buildings and their architectural details. I am really going to have to practice, practice, practice to be able to fulfill that dream.
knowing what camera settings to use to best capture the moment. I'm still so new so don't entirely know what everything means with the fancy new camera
Err, knowing how to transform something cool which I see into a cool photograph... Usually, I can photograph the most extraordinary things, and end up with a set of truly mundane photos!
Anything without emotion... so pretty much anything non living. I love still life so much, but I just can't capture it the way I see it in my head. I'm better at nature, landscapes, and portraits.
@indiannie_jones hahahahhhaha! ps - you just made me laugh out loud at my work desk!
Where do I start?! Technically I'm rubbish, so I miss so much from not getting the camera set up properly - somehow the logic and creativity don't mix for me - have to get over that one. Also, fantasy shots - you know, things that are staged and have symbolic significance and all that. Also, animal shots, they move too fast (I think I might start with sleeping animals!). Also, landscapes - don't' get up early enough to get the mists, and I've never managed a sunset that's worth anything... subtley - need to get the right lens but still, not very good at those soft focus pics. My list is too long. Better stop here.
Photographs requiring 'intrusiveness' I don't mind doing portraits when the subject is willing; it's the natural in the moment shots that are hard to capture
Maybe I'm just really awkward when I'm taking them
AND
Anything requiring a lot of editing - I don't understand photoshop at all....
Like @bethanyjay, I am generally useless without some kind of natural light involved. I also can't do a sweeping landscape for anything ... I'm just way too into detail and smaller scenes to compose a landscape well.
Oh lord. Where do I begin... I am learning I am not much for wilderness/landscape photography. I just... Suck. Or maybe I just dont see the beauty in the shots I take, either way I have yet to be satisfied with a landscape shot I have taken.
As far as photography is concerned, my weakest thing is getting the shots off the memory card and into Photoshop Elements so that I can organize them. I *hate* organizing my photos >:-( I love to take pictures, but doing anything with them requires a crowbar, a team of horses, and maybe some dynamite to get me moving ;-p
Weak is a polite way of saying suck. I suck at shooting in harsh sunlight where no shade is available (e.g. - the beach at noon). I also suck at using a P&S.
I think I'm weakest at indoor photos, portraits, groups of people. I like to get outside and shoot landscapes and sunsets. They're more fun to edit. Right now I think my weaknesses outweigh my strengths by a mile!
I have a hard time taking pictures of people. I can look at anything else (i.e. landscapes, animals, etc) and see a picture in my mind. Pictures with people in them.....yeah no. Something for me to work on. :)
Weaknesses include chocolate, vodka, and wasabi almonds. Hehe. But seriousy, I suck at self portraits. I also suck at knowing what all the technical jargon means. I just pick a lens, point, focus, and shoot. I'm sure knowing all about f stops and aperture would make me a better photog, but it might also just get in the way of my fun. :)
Lousy landscapes...just can't see anything that big. I can now do two things with PSE...resize and crop...who knows, next month I might be able to do three. Def not techno savvy.
I'm weak at portraits too - mainly coz my kids are at that run/crawl about like loonies stage and its hard to practise lol
