Photo editing in GIMP

I used to have Adobe Photoshop but stopped my subscription and now use either Canon's free software, Digital Photo Professional (DPP) or GIMP. DPP does basic editing and I use GIMP when I want to play around a bit more. GIMP doesn't have a RAW loader installed to open Raw Canon files so I have to open the RAW file in DPP, save it as a TIFF file then open it in GIMP if I want to work on RAW files. Once edited I save the file as a JPEG.

There seems to be something different about the JPEG files I save from GIMP as opposed to JPEG files directly from the camera of saved from DPP and I can't figure it out. I have a little photo printer which produces a reasonable print from JPEG files other than those saved from GIMP - it just doesn't recognise them.

Does anyone use GIMP and can you help me please.

Try installing the "UFRaw plug-in ( http://ufraw.sourceforge.net/Install.html ). Not sure if this will work. I started using Affinity Photo since it is a one time purchase and only about $50 - there are lots of YouTube tutorials as well.
