My friend introduced me to this today, and she said I should do it as well.
I argued I didn't have a camera but she said that I should just use the one on my blackberry.
I do have to admit... The camera is pretty sweet.
Is anyone else using something different from the traditional camera?
I've been known to do it in a pinch, when there was a shot I had to get and nothing else at hand. One of the people I know here has a Droid and he's gotten some really nice shots with it. I don't think it's a problem. Welcome aboard--some very cool things going on here!
My old camera broke thanks to my cousin, so for the longest time I was using my Kodak Camera Phone. Its 5 mega pixles, and the qualiy was very well. In fact, it was my main source of a camera for my Photography class. I just got a new camera for Christmas, so go ahead! :D
Some people are using webcams, also. Don't worry about it! I think for most people, or at least for me, the point isn't to have the fanciest camera or even the best pictures on the site. It is just a way to express yourself, document your life, and/or have fun doing something that you enjoy in a supportive environment with people that share the same interests. =) Just have fun with it!
Next xmas when you get a camera you can look back on all the pics and compare, although with technology these days there probably wont be a big difference :)
Phones are great for spur of the moment stuff, I use my iPhone and will do so for a lot of the year to come as I always have it one me as well as it giving more of a real/reportage style. I dont have my compact of SLR on me that much so using a phone is great. It's what the picture says more than the quality of the picture. David Bailey has done a portfolio of just camera phone pictures.
Go for it. Its about documenting the moment! If need be, I'll be using my camera phone for those moments when I'm out and about and not lugging my SLR around. Capturing the moment is more important than technicalitys when it comes to documenting something close to your heart. Though of course, to do it with a good quality digicam would be even better, but it doesn't have to be the best photo with the best high tech camera to preserve the moments!
I wouldn't be afraid of using my phone camera if that's all I have at hand, but I prefer my small compact camera for spur of the moment shots.
But I must say I already got so enthused by this project, that four days in I have decided I want to get more out of my creativity and orderd my first Digital SLR camera. Can't wait to see what it'll allow me to do :-)
So I'd probably be more inclined to trade up, but not afraid to use what's at hand :-)
I have a canon ixus 900Ti which I guess I will use most of the time as it's relatively easy to carry around etc and it takes better pictures however I may have to use my phone at some points, it doesn't really matter, it's just whatever you want to use really, they don't have to be professional pictures and many phones can now take good pictures! (:
I agree, for me the whole idea of doing a 365 is to jumpstart the creative juices. Sometimes that will be challenging myself technically getting the most out of a feature rich camera, and another time it will be just as challenging to get your idea across using limited options.
For instance, I love polaroid cameras, very basic, but thoroughly enjoyable. And they make great collages.
so far i've only used my actual camera (point and shoot)...but if i don't have my camera with me, my phone has an 8megapixel camera, so it should still be decent.....
As Chase Jarvis says, "The best camera is the one you have with you." While you can probably get better results with a "real" camera, go for it with a camera phone. It's always with you, and you've still got to think about how to get the best shot, so I say it's fair game. I've used my iPhone for a few of my shots. Sometimes you're just out and about without a camera and see something cool; you've gotta use what you have with you.
I won a Photo Contest last year with the IN DNR when I shot a pic with a 1mp Cell Phone camera. Why not. And I was going to refer you to Chase Jarvis, but Jennifer already did. Check out his site. He uses an iPhone.
I also snuck my iPhone into a Lindsey Buckingham (of Fleetwood Mac) show last year. I was in the Second Row, and got some real nice shots. Definitely would have had my Nikon DSLR confiscated.
Only got my Shoddy Ketai Camera. Thinking I can also use the isite from my mac and even some random screen captures when I'm having lesss adventurous days!
I use my iPhone for about half my project. Plus I can instantly upload via email that way where it might take me quite a bit longer to get the images off of my real cameras and onto the web.
I'm using my Droid because it's unfortunately the only camera I have right now. I may get a better camera this year but I'll probably keep using the Droid for the project so all the pics will be the same, crazy as that sounds.
i think i may use a mixture of all sorts of media from snap it cam to phone an slr (when i get one!!) to sketches scribbles may even do some photoshop design bits its all how it goes down to show the year.
The first half of my pictures here were shot with the most inexpensive point and shoot camera I could find. Then I started using only iPhone photos. I wanted to use less capable cameras to help me learn to take better photos. Of course, there are a few shoots in here that I took with my DSLR.
I'd always prefer to use the best camera I can find (up to a point) it's true you simply can't carry a full-sized camera with you all the time. That's when the iPhone comes into play...
I'm using the camera built-in to my Macintosh for the self-portrait Photo Booth 365 project here. For Ozzy, I use any camera. Lately, it's the Nikon, but I've been known to use my iPhone.
Photography is my job so I wanted my 365 Project to inspire me NOT to use the kit I use every day. If something artistic happens on any given day, I'll probably post it here. But as things are, I'm very much enjoying a bit of low-tech strangery and am planning to shoot some stuff with the webcam on my laptop and the crappy old scanner that lives in the depths of my husband's office.
My wife suggested I do the project. Since I just got a Motorola Droid for Christmas she said I should use it. I posted one old pic earlier but I'm starting today to post from my Droid. I downloaded Photoshop on the phone so I can "snaz" up the pics!

Going to try some pin-hole stuff soon I think
