Some Help Please - Indentifying a plant related

May 7th, 2011
I was wondering if there was someone on here who was good at identifying plants from (naff) photos. I have this plant that keeps growing in different parts of my back garden but I don't know what it is and don't know where to start looking for information on it. My main concern is if it is dangerous to children and/or animals.

Here are some photos I took of it the other day, I apologise for them not being very good I just didn't know where to start with photographing it. Any information is greatly appreciated and thank you in advance for any.

My spelling will be off but it looks like a euphorbia to me. Watch the milky sap as it REALLY stings if you get it in yout eyes. Ideal plant for hot dry position but it seeds rather alot as you are finding out.

My husband had a look and said his Mum used to call it a mole plant as it repels moles. I've just googled mole plant and it is also called euphorbia as Darrell quite rightly said. It looks identical to your pictures too :o)

yes, I think euphorbia too. The sap can be quite irritating on your skin, Interesting that it's meant to repel moles. I can't say I'd noticed that aspect!

@farmboy9155 @psychographer @helenmoss Thank you all very much. I'll go off and have a look now. Interestingly I had my MIL and a friend both seperately say they thought it was a Lily of some form because of the leaves. Last year we had foxglove sprout up in our garden which thankfully my Mum recognised straight away and suggested we get rid of. I have no idea where all these plants keep coming from. lol.
