Book: The Art of Photography

The Art of Photography: An Approach to Personal Expression, by Bruce Barnbaum, has had some good reviews, but I wonder whether anybody in this community has had the chance to read it? If so, what do you think of it?

Haven't read it. Have come across it and it looks good. I have read and can recommend Michael Freeman's Photographer's Eye and Photographer's Mind books. Alain Briot's book Mastering Photographic Composition, Creativity, and Personal Style also looks good (but haven't read this one either)

@vikdaddy - I have the book but alas haven't read it yet. I can help if you have any questions about the book, what it covers etc.

My Fave Photography book is "Nude Photography - The Art and the Craft", by Pascal Baetens. Nude photography aside (I have yet to actually sit down with a model to try this!), it's the most amazing book for simple, but effective techniques on lighting, portraiture, photographign outdoors, etc. I have used techniques in this on photos of my kids, my wife, selfies...

I have two books: Fundamentals of Photo Composition by Paul Comon, and Pro Secrets to Dramatic Digital Photos by Jim Zuckerman. Both are recommended.

@vikdaddy I'm SO lucky. After seeing the post this morning, I happened on this book at the library. Especially surprising as it was at my little branch library which probably never has more that 10 or 12 photography books on the shelf. You are a more experienced photographer than I and a specialist in landscapes, so the fact that it is an awesome book to me may not mean the same thing to you. To me, it is gorgeous and interesting to read wherever I flip to in it. I would love it for the photos alone, but it's jam-packed with information and philosophy as well. I hope to own a copy at some point (I don't see it on Amazon USA so maybe published in GB only?).

@vikdaddy Now that I've had more time to look at it and see that it costs US $45 - it is WELL worth it. Just flipping anywhere in it I found interesting reading. As you would expect - the photos are gorgeous - and they are used well to illustrate his points. There's a lot of teaching and philosophy and it's intelligently written. I'm putting it on my TO BUY list for sure. Thanks for alerting me to it. Hope you enjoy it too.
