Okay, we are looking at recommending "gateway" improvements to some neighborhoods in Philadelphia for work. A gateway is something that every town, village, city, or neighborhood may have, and announces to a visitor that they have arrived and gives a sense of identification.
Show me your pictures of what your town uses to say this is where you are, who we are and welcome to our home.
My little town is divided into two states, Tennessee and Virginia (USA) Here's a sign they have that goes over the street where the state line lies down the middle.

Well this is the sight that greets you when you're coming in from the airport over the Burrard Bridge. I'm quite proud of most of our Gateways to the city - but there's a LOT of construction going on that's kind of spoiling the view right now.
Frankfurt's gateway definitely is its skyline as Frankfurt is the only German city to actually have a presentable skyline ;). You can already see it while approaching the airport:
