Printing Photos Advice

September 29th, 2011
I might be taking some photos of children at a coffee morning I go to and one of the things that has been suggested is that included in the cost is one 10x8 print. I've never done this sort of thing so was wondering a couple of things: (1) is this size an ok size (2) which is the best way to go about printing, I was thinking of using an online service but I only really know of places like Jessops and Photobox and I am unsure of the quality of these places. So I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations, I'm UK based, and any other advice/information.

Thank you.

I think an 8x10 is a good size. I have used mpix.com before, and I was very very pleased with the quailty of the print. I'm not sure how it would work for UK, but definately with checking out.

snapfish is pretty good. Have used them several times and only had one problem, but that was quickly resolved. 8x10 is a good size too, big enough to be hung on a wall, but small enough to go on a shelf. :-)

I don't know about the UK-factor, but Pro-DPI sounds incredible from my understanding. There is an article on exactly what makes them amazing (and compares them to some other services HERE, and they give you 5 free 8x10s when you sign up, as well as sending you a book of sample photo paper options, etc.

@coolgirlsar print size depends on what purpose the photos will be used but to get the best print for every image, divide the resolution i.e. 1111 x 2222 by 300 which is the DPI or atleast 225, good luck.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions, I had forgotten about snapfish. As for mpix and Pro-DPI it seems they don't ship to the UK from a quick look but I'll have a more indepth look.

@ronphotography Thank you for the info, I'll try to bear that in mind when doing the photos.
