I haven't been on in awhile- boo! It's mostly because I'm simply not motivated. At all. I've decided to do a little challenge for December to help me get back into taking pictures.
I believe there are two kinds of people. "Merry Christmas" people and "bah humbug" people. I am definitely a bah humbug. I'm not a very big fan of Christmas. If it wasn't for my daughter, I probably wouldn't even put a tree up anymore. BUT, since I have already put it up for her, I've decided to take a photo of an ornament a day, and then include a brief little memory about why it's special to me. I'm hoping it will help me get better into the spirit and maybe even remind me of why I loved Christmas as a child. If you haven't put your tree up, or you don't want to take a photo of an ornament a day, that's cool. But if you do feel like joining in [or following me] I'll be tagging the photos "ornament-challenge".
I'll probably not do every day, but here's one I took a couple of days ago. We have a lot of Disney ornaments on our tree, which is also topped by a glowing winged Tinkerbell. This is another Tink ornament on the tree.
I'm sure I'll be taking more shots like that (put one up today) but probably won't do it every day. I hope it rekindles your joy for Christmas. It certainly can become overwhelming which is why we keep it simple around here.
This was sent to me when we were thinking about migrating to Australia, the following year the friend who lived in Western Australia and sent it developed ovarian cancer and I spent some time with her during her chemotherapy. I loved this country. My friends cancer and then another serious health scare made us realise and appreciate how very short life is and how you have to embrace every second. We migrated five years ago and now love our lives here is sunny WA.
great challenge - I'm a bah-humbug and probably won't have a tree and I don't have ornaments LOL! maybe i should make my challenge on of looking for interesting Christmas items on my travels!!
@triciaanddazzle she is a miracle, her prognosis was so poor and eight years later she is still really well and now she lives in Bahrain saving stray dogs!!
Day 1-One of many ornaments I made for our Christmas tree in the early years of our marriage.
Day 2-This is a close-up of the clapper part of a bell-shaped ornament made by my mother many years ago.
Day 3-Christmas ornaments don't get much more special than this. My older granddaughter on her first Christmas. (Stay tuned for younger granddaughter tomorrow)
@webfoot This is a magical photo. Love the lighting.
