This is not a competition for a gold medal…it’s a challenge…a personal challenge to tap into your artistic growth…I have been doing wwyd for awhile with that mind set…to keep raising my own bar and to celebrate your own creative genius.
Each entry is considered a win and let’s celebrate each other’s editing growth…challenge yourself and be challenged to learn what others can do…photography is an art….photo editing is an art unto itself…art inspires art…pop will eat itself…anyone that knows me will understand that I am not a purist but a learner…a dabbler…and a jokester…let’s not make this a technical purist endeavor but a festival of fun where who would have thought WWYD would now lead to WWYD51! Remember being nominated and winning is symbolic and a way to pass the photo torch so we can move on to the next adventure!
Hope you have fun with this! I'm really excited to see what you come up with!
I will not be entering this wwyd just because @loztsoul is my husband and it would not be fair to everyone else or to him for that matter (but I still might do a edit just for the fun of it.... I don't know yet)
With that said I am willing to answer any questions about editing and help out if anyone needs it (I don't know everything about editing as that would be impossible but I do have a good understanding on how most things work) just email me at relicsong@gmail.com and I will be happy to help
@grammyn hehe thank you for predicting the outcome I was afraid to win actually; you know being responsible for a photo etc etc...:) glad you like the new one!
@marybeth wwyd started out in the early days as how would you post process the photo i.e what is your personal style of photo editing...nowadays you could do a standard edit or be as artistically creative as you like...do a quick search of previous wwyd's to get a gist of possible creations people have come up with :)
@jsw0109 what the.... My Husband @loztsoul didn't tell me that Ryan Reynolds was going to be at the photo shoot that day now I'm sad that I skipped it :( /cry
Some good edits so far really hope @jsw0109 's Ryan Reynolds speedo is not intimidating you from trying your editing hat at the competition :) looking forward to more creativity!
Okay I have never tried anything like this before and didn't even know where to begin. I realize my cut and paste methods are crude, but I have no idea how to make them seamless. Plus I used stock photos from the web. I use PSE 10 and don't know how to use half of the tools on there, any help or suggestions would be welcomed.
@newbie bravo! as in regard to feeling new to editing or not knowing how to use "half of your program" it does not show in the least. This is what this challenge is about...practice and having fun doing it...in time we just sharpen our abilities...half the tools you will learn how to use will mainly just save you time...you would be amazed at an edit i did the hard way that took me days and then I felt silly a year later with more knowledge under my belt...the same edit I could have done in an hour and much more polished. I love your creative entry...its what I was hoping for...thinking outside the box! its a work of art and considering what you mentioned about being new I would say use this is a first stepping stone on your journey of mastering your program and skills for future projects. There are loads of useful youtube tutorials I highly recommend checking them out at your own pace and there are lots of gifted 365'rs that will help in a pinch as well :)
@newbie I use PSE10 as well and probably only know 10% of the tools... I still don't touch the majority of them because I have no idea how to use them....I haven't had it long, so I think I'm doing pretty good for someone that is teaching himself through trial and error..... and it looks to me like you're doing well with what you do know... just keep experimenting and learning
@loztsoul@jsw0109 Thanks guys this probably took me an hour with watching a utube tutorial, they really do help a lot! I also used picmonkey too, I find the cloning and airbrushing tools much easier to use. I have only started this photo and software journey since Feb. myself...so lots to learn. All in time and practice as you say! Thanks for faving it Trevor, after King Kong that is quite a compliment.
Here's another edit... this one does the opposite of my first edit. Also figured I'd kill 2 birds with one stone and toss in a hint of the weekly theme.
@grammyn thanks for the comment...but this is really good as well! I see layering, masking, shadowing and several other editing techniques! Good going!
